19th Century Advertising Trade Card ( Brown's Iron Bitters)
On offer is a superb 19th century advertising Trade Card entitled "Brown's Iron Bitters The Best Tonic" Date: circa 1890+
The front of the card features Mrs Langtry " The Jersey Lily" to the bottom lefthand corner printed on an old fence is the following statement.
Certain Cure For Diseases Requiring A Complete Tonic, Indigestion, Dyspepsia, Intermittent Fevers, Want of Appetite, Loss of Strength, Lack of Energy, Malaria and Malarial Fevers & c. Enriches The Blood, Strengthens The Muscles & Gives A New Life To The Nerves.
The rear of the card has an extensive testimonial from a leading Medical Professor ( allthough no name is given), about the physiological benefits of ladies taking iron medicines.The Iron Bitters is made by the Brown Chemical Company of Baltimore Md. Also stating that the genuine article is for sale by all respectable dealers in medicines.
