A fascinating 782 page long report on the sale of Patent and Proprietary Medicines and Medical Preparation and Appliances and Advertisements relating thereto.
During three sessions of parliament, 33 public sittings, examined 44 witnesses, of whom 14,00 questions have been asked.
Of which nine represented government Departments, either of this country or of Australia, eleven were medical men, five were analysts, four were wholesale or manufacturing druggists, and nine were manufacturers or proprietors of proprietary medicinal preparations.

Where do you start on such a monumental report! this is a no holds barred scathing attack on patent medicines, their proprietors and fradulent claims. The reading is to put it simply quite a revelation. It goes further than the Secret Remedies and what they contain, originally published in 1909, I cannot explain in simple words just how riveting this report is, once you start you cannot stop reading, the content is fantastic. I have imaged a couple of pages to give you an idea. But to truly witness the content you are going to have to buy the report.

The internal pages are in excelent condition, the scans look far worse than they actually are, they are almost in pristine condition!

Damage: Front cover edges curled, some splitting. a 7cm cut to the middle of the front cover (dificult to detect). Some discolouration, Spine has lost some of the covering, but is bound tight. Rear Cover some curling of the edges and some discolouration. Some curling and slight folding to the edges of the last few pages.

Height: 33.6 cms

Width: 21.2 cms

A very rare publication, despite the obvious flaws this is still an important report, and has done well to survive so well, the covers are only paper thin if you think about it, not hardbacked, or cloth bound.

A fantastic source of material, especially if you collect cures and medicines.
