Early 19th Century Botanical Wood Block Print Atriplex Pedunculta
On offer is a superb early 19th century wood block print of one of the UK's most endangered plant species.
Atriplex Pedunculta:
Pedunculate sea-purslane is an erect, branching shrub, with fleshy leaves arranged alternately on the stem. The flowers are small, and male and female flowers occur on separate plants. The fruits are attached to the plant by short stalks, unlike sea-purslane (A. portulacoides), which has fruits without stalks.
One of the rarest members of the British flora.
Damage:
The print is in good condition, although having some slight foxing, which can be clearly seen on the digital image. Some discolouration to the velum. there are no tears, or creases. The scan has exaggerated the colour of the velum, it is no where near as dark in daylight
