19th Century S Maw Son & Thompson Improved Inhaler
On offer is a superb pristine condition 19th century S Maw Son & Thompson Improved Earthenware Blue Marbled Inhaler. It is in its original condition, having the glass mouth piece still intact. There are no chips, cracks or defects whatsoever to the inhaler or mouth piece.
Inhalers were used extensively throughout the 19th and early 20th century to ease lung complaints from Consumption through to Bronchitis and Asthma. A common aromatic would have been Friar's Balsam, which would have been broken up and placed in the body of the inhaler, then hot water would have been added, and the vapours inhaled through the mouth piece.
This is a fine pristine example, they do not come any better than this!
