Outstanding 19th Century Free Blown Syrup Round With Rare Pink Label
On Offer is a quite superb Free Blown Cobalt Blue Syrup Round.
SYR:RHAMNI. Syrupus Rhamni: Syrup of Buckthorn Juice.
Buckthorn juice is obtained from the fruit of the common buckthorn Rhamnus cathartica, the berries being expressed when ripe.
The juice is a dark reddish-purple liquid with a fragrant odour.
The juice is used only in the form of Syrupus Rhamni, and is now rarely employed except in veterinary medicine.
This is a super example! Free from any damage. The pink label stands out against the cobalt blue body which has an unusual shoulder, it is almost flat. These rounds are quite rare and look stunning displayed.
HEIGHT:
23cms to the top of the stopper
DAMAGE:
None!
DEFECTS:
There are basal scratches caused during its working life and there is some loss of the gold leaf border, and there is some wear to the black lettering. There are no other defects. The stopper is in pristine condition, having no damage and the body of the round is in excellent condition having no damage.
The faults are minor the round displays wonderfully!
