Superb 19th century Pontiled Lozenge Jar with rare Pink Label
On Offer is a superb pontiled 19th century Pink Labelled Lozenge Jar
This is One of Nine Rare Pink Labelled Chemist Rounds
TROCH FRUCT: Fructose Lozenges
Laevulose or ketohexose syn: Fructose, is frequently found in nature, accompanying grape sugar in fruits, and in honey. In some plants it is associated with cane sugar.
Laevulose has greater sweetening power than cane sugar, and is more easily assimilated. It has been recommended for use in such wasting diseases as phthisis. It is also recommended for administration to tuberculous and scrofulous children in place of milk sugar or cane sugar.
This is a super Lozenge jar, having a polished pontil scar to the base, and a hand blown stopper which is then cut into facets. The rare Pink label is in excellent condition and the body is free from damage, the glass is in excellent condition, you can feel the undulations in the body where it has benn paddled in the blowing process. A great rarity, and a sound investment bottle.
