19th Century Emerald Green reeded Poison Bottle

This is a very "RARE" Example. Manufactured by "The York Glass Co"

HYDRARG.TANNAS: Hydrargyri Tannas: Mercurous Tannate: syn~ Mercury Tannate.

Mercurous tannate occurs as a dull brownish-green powder or in scales, without taste or odour.

Mercurous tannate is decomposed in the duodenum, and free mercury in a fine state of division is liberated, some of which is absorbed.

This preparation produces a mild mercurial action without derangement of digestion or unpleasant after effects, and is used in syphilis.

It is administered in pills massed with glycerin of tragacanth, a small dose of powdered opium is added, if necessary, to prevent diarrhoea.

The bottle is manufactured by The York glass Co, their trade mark is embossed to the base of the bottle.

It is quite a small jar, with a reeded body and inset panel to take the patented "Phototype" Glass Label. The stopper is oval in shape and has a polished pontil scar to the middle of the stopper. The lip is applied.

The Glass label has a white background, and has black text, there are no borders, or other decorations, this is an unusual label and is very scarce.

I must say that this type of poison chemist bottle is quite rare, they are very hard to obtain especially in good condition.

HEIGHT: 12.5 cms to the top of the oval glass stopper.

DEFECTS:

NONE!.

There are no cracks, chips or defects present Whatsoever! to the glass bottle, label or stopper.

An unusual Patent Poison Bottle.
