Exceptionally Rare Delft Leech Jar
On Offer is quite a unique Delft Leech Jar
The body of the jar is inscribed with DR HENRY TREHARNE which is highlighted in a blue glaze. To the base there are further markings C58 and what looks to be 17W.
The jar is crude and hand thrown, it is full of imperfections.
The lid is pierced in several places and has a crude knopf, again finished in blue glaze. The lid is also crudely formed. Possibly a one of made for Dr Treharne.
There is a small hairline crack to the lip of the jar, which in no way detracts from its overall presentation.
Never seen another like it!
HEIGHT:
22cms to the top of the knopf.
DEFECTS:
Small hairline crack to the lip.
